Mercedes Benz is credited as one of the first known users of paintless dent repair as early as the 1950's. To avoid repainting new cars that accidentally acquired small dings or dents on the assembly line, factory workers would use PDR to massage the dents away.
In the late 1980's the technology was expanding to the United States but was rather limited to the size of dents that could actually be removed.
During the 1990's technicians in the industry began to push the art of PDR. Although paintless dent repair was used for removing small door dings and dents, it became clear that a technician could; with patience remove larger dents and even hail damage.
Can Metal-Tech PDR fix my car?
The main qualifying points as to whether a dent can be removed using PDR are simple. The original paint must be intact and the dent can not include an edge of a panel. Edges are sometimes possible; however, this varies among different automobile manufacturers. Also, the depth of the damage needs to be taken into consideration. A very deep, sharp ding or dent may not be repairable with PDR. All makes and models of automobiles are PDR candidates. Please note that a technician may still need to see the damage on site to evaluate and arrive at a final price for the repair.
